Norman Southgate Memorial Meeting Presents a Weekend of Motorcycle Grass Track Racing.

The Fenland Grass Track Clubs’ (FGTC) final meeting of the season is a weekend extravaganza of Grass Track racing on the 18th & 19th October.   The meeting which is being held in memory of Norman Southgate who died in 2007, a supporter of Grass Track for many years and founder member of the FGTC, is being held at College Farm, Runcton Holme, Nr Kings Lynn PE33 0RL on a 500m track.  This meeting is the restaging of the June meeting cancelled due to the poor weather.

Saturday 18th October sees a Youth and Quads meeting running on a slightly smaller track with practice at Midday and the first race at 1pm.  The large entry of 40 youth riders will be riding in the second round of the Norcam First Aid Services Youth Series.  Riders include Jake Willis, Edmund Best, Jed Collins, Joshua Rockley, Natalia Willis, Danny Boyle and Oliver Greenwood.  The Adult Quads has a strong line up headed by Charlie Welbourn and Andy Butler with many of the riders coming out of Quad Speedway.

The Second day of the two-day meeting is for Adults only and includes five solo and two sidecar classes.  Practice is at 11AM with the first race at 12.30PM.  Includes many reigning and former British champions.

The 250cc class, which is also the Final round of the 250cc JRM Challenge series, has a quality entry headed by former British champion, and series winner in 2007, Lee Street, he has been the man in form, but rising stars Tom Perry and Oliver Rayson will try to stop his quest for the 250cc JRM engine along with Scott Campos, Gary Wells and Paul Simmons.

The Speedway Services Ltd 350cc challenge series concludes at this meeting with last years winner Bob Dolman entered again but runner up in 2007 Dave Mears and currently lying second in series to Richard Smith will be out to take his title away.  Young star Michael Faulkner and Tom Perry will ensure they do not have it all their own way.

The large Upright class includes Peter Baker and Ian Gutteridge looking to continue their battles from the Wood Hurst meeting, but Jeremy Best, and Arnie Fenner are likely to be in the mix.  John Underwood would appear to be the favourite in the Pre75 class which also has Chris Mackett Chris Smith and Barry Copestake.
